"Professionalism"

Professionalism is a state of mind and action.

Professionalism encompasses the use of maturity, wisdom, and knowledge.

Professionalism requires that an individual act in a responsible, ethical manner and in keeping with the principles, standards, and laws of one's profession.

Professionalism implies the ability of the individual to maintain composure, keep a cool head, and respond in an appropriate fashion in the face of the unprofessional behavior of others.

Professionalism includes always striving to improve one's skills, knowledge, and talents.

Professionalism presupposes that the individual will keep his or her commitments and promises.

Professionalism demands that individuals act (and not just think that they are acting) in a manner that speaks well of the person and the profession.

Professionalism is built upon a foundation cemented by honesty and respect for others, for oneself and for the organization utilizing the skills and services of the professional.

Professionalism should be a constant companion, which accompanies the professional to the workplace, and guides him or her through the workday.

Professionalism assumes that the individual will keep his or her values and integrity with him or her throughout the day, and not "check them" at the office door.

Professionalism cannot be presumed to be present in one who has completed a formal education in the finest of schools. It can be most often seen in those who successfully graduated with honors from... the school of life... with a degree in right thinking.

Affirmation for the Week:
“I act with professionalism both on and off the job.”

Have a successful week!
