Personal Motivation

Habits

The secret to having a successful and happy personal and professional life is the development of good habits. Not all of the habits we develop are good ones. In fact, it seems that we spend the first half of out life learning habits that shorten the other half.

We can not only develop good habits, but we can get rid of bad ones. Bad habits, like chiggers and cockleburs, are easy to acquire, but hard to remove. At first they are a caller, then become a guest, and ultimately a master.

You can get rid of bad habits and develop good ones. It starts with a strong desire, clarity of what is desired, and follow-through until a new groove is worn into your pattern of life.

Ever feel bored? You say, "I would like to have something fun to do, something I really get a kick out of doing?" Take action now... don't be like the folks we all know who live mundane lives. In fact it has been said that about the only kicks that some people get out of life are from behind.

Boredom is nature's way of saying, wake up, change course, do something different and challenging. Look around you, life is full of fun things to do. If you are on a tight budget, you don't have to spend money. In fact, an interesting and stimulating part of the planning is to find things to do that are absolutely free.

Lift your eyes up and look at the exciting world around you. Life is too short to spend it looking down at your feet.

Summer time always brings back good memories for many folks. Days of walking through the grass bare footed. The smell of swimming pool chlorine or sea air. The first watermelon of the summer, warm and lazy summer afternoons. The sounds of a soft summer rain.

What a gift the memory is. It is the memory that enables a person to gather roses in January. We all can create and maintain those good memories. Take a mental snapshot of a fun or happy moment. Pay attention to the sounds, smells, and feelings and when you are in need of a change of scenery or attitude, open up your mental album choose your picture, let yourself day dream and experience the good times all over again. Your memory is gift that lasts forever.
